Inclusion and Accessibility

MuC 2025 aims to create an inclusive and respectful environment reflecting the diversity of our community. We will not tolerate discrimination and harassment in any form, and encourage our participants to join our efforts to keep MuC a safer place for marginalised participants.

We are doing our best to accommodate a diverse range of access requirements. To help your individual decision-making, below, we have put together information on the inclusion and access support we can offer.  In an effort to provide information as soon as possible, we are also trying to be transparent about variables that we don’t know about yet, so if something is still a work in progress, come back to check for updates or simply send us an e-mail and we will get back to you once we know more!

If you have questions, or access requirements not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact us: accessibility@mensch-und-computer.de.

    Mobility Access

You can find a floor plan of the building here.

There is only one, small, functioning elevator at the venue, and only one accessible toilet on the ground floor, on the right side of the building, which is signposted. We will ask all conference participants who can use the stairs to do so.

The entrance doors are operated manually and quite heavy, but can be entered using a wheelchair once open. There is also a side door that is wheelchair user friendly. It is on the left hand side of the building and will be signposted. There are no escalators.

Wheelchair spaces, seating with additional space for mobility support devices, and seating for fat bodies will be available in easy-to-access front, side or aisle rows at each session.

For all other events and times, seating opportunities throughout the venue will be arranged.

We plan to provide priority parking spaces, however, construction work will be ongoing next to the building that could potentially block parking lots, which we are still figuring out.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access

The rooms where the main practitioner programme will take place (rooms C10.111, C10.112, C10.113) will have induction loops using the Sennheiser Connect. For the main lecture room where the keynote and the scientific sessions take place, you can obtain an audio guide that works with your hearing aids.

We are in the process of determining whether we can assist with payment for sign language interpretation or provide sign language interpretation ourselves. We will update the page once we know more. If you choose to bring your own interpreter, let us know and we can provide them with resources such as additional screens.

We are happy to accommodate hearing dogs.

    Blind and Low-Vision Access

Unfortunately, there will be no braille signage and no tactile floor signage.

We will do our best to make signage accessible to those with low vision. Stairs will be marked with high-vision strips.

We are happy to accommodate guide dogs.

    Quiet Room

There is a signposted quiet room with signage displaying the rules in the basement of the building. The room is intended as a retreat for people who are experiencing sensory overwhelm or other distress, or simply need a place to withdraw. Multiple people may use the room at the same time.

When you use the room, please keep your distance from other people who may be in the room. Be as quiet as you can, keep any lights low, and avoid strong smells. Quiet prayer is welcome.

    Family Support

For those who bring children and babies, there will be a changing room.

We have reserved the KidsBox . If the age of the children attending is known shortly before the conference begins, they are happy to equip the box with age-appropriate toys and craft materials and also provide an additional toy box.

We are waiting to hear back about whether it will be possible for conference participants to use the university’s parent-child room, and plan to provide a children’s space whatever the outcome.

We hope to have further information soon regarding the availability of child supervision during the conference.

    Pronouns on Event Badges

In addition to choosing pronouns in the registration system, we will offer on-site pronoun stickers, including empty ones to fill out as wished. If you do not wish to provide pronouns, that is fine as well.

    All-Gender Toilets

Toilets will be all-gender. Some all-gender toilets also have open urinals, which you need to pass to get to the cubicles, while others only have cubicles. Information about the availability of urinals will be displayed on the door.

DEI+A chairs and SVs at the conference

Should you encounter any diversity or accessibility-related issues during the conference, the DEI+A chairs and SVs are available in person or via e-mail. We will do what we can to assist you:
