Call for Student Volunteers

With more than 600 participants in the past years, the “Mensch und Computer” (MuC) is one of the largest HCI conferences in Europe. Every year, the conference attracts participants from academia and industry.

We are looking for motivated students and PhD candidates to support the conference as Student Volunteers (SV). As a SV, you get free conference registration, which will provide you access to seminars, workshops, and all the social events. This way, you will gain an overview of current research topics, network with scientists and practitioners, and a behind-the-scenes look at how a conference is run. You will also get to savor the success of a well-run conference with other SVs at an exclusive post-conference “Thank You” party.

Notification Date of Acceptance: latest by 08.07.2025

What do I have to do as a Student Volunteer (SV)?

Student Volunteers are expected to commit approximately 20 hrs to providing general support to the smooth running of the conference. Specific activities include running the conference reception, providing technical support during the sessions, providing information to conference participants, and more.

You should be on site in Chemnitz between Saturday, 30.08.2025 (12 hrs) to Wednesday, 03.09.2025 (afternoon/evening) for this purpose.

What do I get in return?

You will have the opportunity to attend the conference for free, which includes technical presentations, workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions. Most importantly, you will get the opportunity to network with your peers and meet future collaborators/mentors. You are also welcome to submit your own research contributions to “Mensch und Computer 2025”, especially the “Student Research Competition’’ that comes with a travel scholarship (see overview of all deadlines).

How can I apply?

All applicants must fill out the following form before 24.06.2025:
